FAQ

  • What is Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Psychodynamic - also known as Psychoanalytic - Psychotherapy is a powerful and effective form of psychological care that can help you better understand the issues holding you back in life. We are not masters of our own house: This form of psychotherapy, which gave rise to the field of psychology, is based on the widely researched premise that we are not always in control of our thoughts and behaviours. There are many aspects of ourselves that we tend to ignore, avoid, deny, or forget about, which can lead us to repeat the same patterns that make us feel miserable. Through therapy, you will develop new ways of thinking about yourself and others that will lead to long-lasting and meaningful psychological, emotional and interpersonal or relational changes, resulting in a better quality of life. Whether you're looking for brief therapy to address current challenges or long-term treatment to work on chronic and past issues, psychotherapy can help where other, more conventional, manualised and present-moment focused solutions have failed. If you're ready to take the first step toward a journey of self-understanding, arrange a consultation today. You can learn more about the research evidence supporting the effectiveness of psychotherapy HERE.
  • How long are the sessions?
All sessions last 50 minutes. It is important to note that unlike in other fields, psychotherapy is a continuous process, and while sessions are time limited, your clinician's mind continues the work beyond the 50 minutes mark. You might even find yourself engaging with the work done in session outside of the consulting room.
  • How many sessions will I need?
The agreement about the treatment plan will be made after the consultation process, considering various factors such as the reason for seeking therapy and the goals that you have in mind. I provide psychotherapeutic treatment with an ongoing review process, but we can also agree on periodic reviews - every 3 or 6 months.
  • What is your fee?
My fee is £100 per session/consultation. I am not able to offer individualised fee adjustments for consultations but I do have some scope for sensible fee adjusments for ongoing work. MENTALK group fee: TBC. Please register interest via email for more information.
  • Can you help with problems related to personality and trauma?
Yes, in fact, I have a few years of clinical experience in the area. Moreover, psychoanalytic theory is the only theory that encompasses personality and personality structure.
  • Ethics and Framework
I work within the guidelines of ethical frameworks that regulate my profession. As a registered member, I am governed by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, which is one of the main regulatory bodies in the field. Additionally, I am a member of the BCA, an association accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council.
